Policy

Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society, Inc.’s (BEHS) policy is use Approved Trailering Volunteers to transport BEHS equines.

Procedure

In order to become an Approved Trailering Volunteer, an applicant must:

  • Be a current, paid member of BEHS in good standing
  • Submit a Trailering Volunteer Application
  • Submit proof of liability insurance for the towing vehicle.
  • Submit the following photos of their trailer:
    • Close-up of the entire trailer hitch structure
    • Both sides of the trailer
    • Close-up of all doors
    • Floor

The Trailering Coordinator will review the application and may require an inspection of the towing vehicle and trailer.  If the Trailering Coordinator does not feel the applicant is qualified to trailer equines for BEHS or feels the trailer and/or towing vehicle is not appropriate or safe, he/she may discuss concerns with the applicant and the Officers.

If the applicant is approved, he/she will be added to the BEHS Trailering email list and may volunteer to assist with any posted trailering needs.

The Trailering Applicant must maintain his or her membership with BEHS and must keep a copy of proof of current liability insurance on file with BEHS in order to maintain Approved Trailering Volunteer status.

Once the Trailering Committee Chairperson approves the applicant, he or she will be placed on the list of approved trailering volunteers.
