About Snapple

Snapple was removed from negligent owners and placed with Bluebonnet by animal control. Snapple participated in and placed in the professional division of the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge in 2018. Despite his great performance, he wasn’t adopted and went back home with his trainer. A few weeks later, she decided she really didn’t ever want him to leave! She will continue training him and plans to show him in dressage shows! She had to return him in 2019 through no fault of his. Snapple competed under saddle in the Non-Pro Under Saddle division at the 2019 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and met his adopter at the event. Congratulations Snapple!

Evaluation and Training

Snapple is an awesome little Arabian gelding who is looking for a home with a teen or smaller adult who loves Arabians. This guy has had a lot of training while at Bluebonnet. In 2017, he spent four months with trainer Brittany Blackburn to be started under saddle. Brittany did a great job with him, getting him solid in a walk, trot, and canter. Then he had about eight months off, so in 2018 he spent four months with trainer Kris Henderickson. Kris restarted him and then expanded his education. She worked on a lot of desensitization as he’s a hot horse who used to be quite spooky. She then began riding him both Dressage and western. She took him to sort/pen cattle and to his first open show to show in hunter pleasure classes. She also started him over fences. Kris adopted Snapple in October 2018 and continued his training. Unfortunately she had to return him in May 2019, but he’s been spending time with a foster home with Arabian experience. She’s been riding him dressage and says he is a fun horse to ride. He can be very hot and likes to go – he hasn’t spooked or bolted with his foster home, but she says he’s very animated, snorty, and high headed. That could intimidate a novice rider or one used to more laid-back horses. Snapple has great potential to be a dressage pony or open show horse for someone. He could also possibly be an endurance mount with training as he has a huge trot – but he really seems to prefer arena work for the most part.
