About Jumpin' Jack Flash

Jumping Jack Flash was placed with Bluebonnet when his owner could not keep him. Jumpin' Jack Flash competed in the 2017 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and went home with a new foster home after the Challenge That home decided that he would be the perfect next show horse, so she adopted him for Christmas! We cannot wait to hear how they do together.

Evaluation and Training

True to his name, this is one flashy colt! Currently standing 14hh, he should be a good size when mature, and his conformation is correct. “Flash” is a beautiful dark bay, and his graceful movement is testament to his athleticism. Due to his lack of previous handling and his high energy level, Flash was a handful initially. As his groundwork training commenced, the yearling was quite reactive when it came to discipline. He was “buddy sour” and at one point reared and struck his handler when separated from his half-brother. Flash went to a trainer for two weeks of behavior modification, which helped him become more manageable. Even so, he is a “hot” horse who can revert to misbehavior when stressed. At his foster home, Flash has been worked with daily. He will stand quietly while tied for a long period of time. Flash is respectful of the personal space of his handler and leads well. He will give all four feet; he stood fairly well for his first trim. To date, he has jumped into a trailer with little urging. Due to his youth and past reactivity, Flash is will definitely require an experienced handler who will maintain discipline and continue his education. With the proper handling and training, Flash has the potential to be an outstanding mount for some lucky adopter. Jumpin' Jack Flash placed 4th in a very competitive In Hand Division of the 2017 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge.
