About Apollo

Apollo was surrendered to BEHS when his owner was investigated for neglect. He attended the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Training Challenge, met an adopter, and went to a new home. She returned him in 2018 when she decided to cut back on horses. Apollo competed in the 2018 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo. He met his adopter at the Expo. Congrats Apollo!

Evaluation and Training

Apollo was halter broke and loaded well when he came to BEHS, but he had no additional training. He spent a month with a trainer in September-October 2015. They worked to improve his ground manners, taught him to carry a saddle, and put a handful of rides on him. He was not ridden since then, so he will need someone to restart him. He’s spent July-October with trainer Kelly Lazo. They’ve been working under saddle in an arena and out on the trail. He’s a brave horse – but he can be sensitive and is not for a novice. He’s got so much try, though, that he’s going to be a super star for a lucky adopter!
