About Habanero Honey

Habanero Honey was removed from negligent owners by law enforcement and placed with BEHS. She attended the 2016 Bluebonnet Horse Expo and was adopted at the event. Habnero Honey was returned in early 2019 through no fault of her own. She attended the 2019 HelpAHorse Adoption Event in Sanger, Texas and met her new family there. Congrats to Honey and her new people!

Evaluation and Training

Habanero Honey spent time with a trainer in September 2016 (prior to her adoption). The trainer rode her in an arena at a walk and trot and over several obstacles. She believed that Honey was broke to ride but not well trained (she does not neck rein, move off of leg cues or seat/weight cues). She willingly goes over many obstacles and is good to catch, lead, and load. She stands well for the farrier and saddling. At her adopter's home, she was ridden in pasture, an arena, and down the road. She did best at the walk and trot and occasionally crow-hopped at the canter. They said she can be very herd-bound/buddy sour as well. She's been ridden by both adults and children - a ten year old rode her bareback walk/trot at her adopter's home and Honey was excellent for her. Her adopters said she was never spooky: she tolerates flags, tarps, balloons, obstacles, etc. with no problem. Her adopters are very sad to give her up, and they're happy to talk to potential adopters about her.
