About Cash

Cash was found estray and neglected. The person who found him reported him to the sheriff's department and then offered that if his owner was found, she would take him. His negligent owner signed him over to her and she then placed him with BEHS. Cash competed in the Foster Horse in Hand division of the 2013 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. His trainer for the event fell in love with him and adopted him. She plans to show him in Pinto shows and in open shows. We're excited to watch this new team!

Evaluation and Training

Cash was halter broke, lead, and loaded when he came to BEHS. Trainer Mark Lyon worked with Cash when he arrived to the rescue and put the first ride on him. Cash has been training for the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and will now perform the walk, trot and lope in both directions with ease. His foster home has tried a couple of different bits on him and he prefers an S-hackamore. She has ridden Cash in several different saddles and saddle pads and he acts the same, no matter what you put on him. Before his home started riding him, she spent a good amount of time line driving him from the ground and he is a quick learner and is very willing to do as he is asked. His foster home has taken Cash over several obstacles from the ground and under saddle, including the bridge, tarps, plastic, pool noodles, plywood and water. She has swung a rope from the fence, ground and off of his back, thrown a loop and walked him while swinging the loop. Cash is not bombproof, but he reacts appropriately to new or scary things, by looking at them, then moving forward. He does not bolt, buck or rear when scared. Cash will make a very nice horse for any western discipline.
