About Kit
Kit came to BEHS in 2012 from a neglect case. He gained weight quickly, and he spent some time with a trainer getting broke to ride. He was recently returned because he wasn't getting along with a mare in his adopter's home. However his foster home quickly discovered he was a nice riding pony and helped find an adopter who plans to continue his training and use him for lessons. Kit seems to love having a job, so this seems like a great fit! Congrats to Kit and his new family - and thank you to foster Linda K for helping him find a good fit!
Evaluation and Training
Kit spent two months with a trainer before being adopted. Adopters report that they have used him as a lead line pony, even for children's birthday parties. He's currently being ridden by a teenager and doing well, but his foster home doesn't think he would be suitable for leadline rides without work as he can get balky on the leadline. Under saddle, he direct reins and has a good whoa. He is an easy keeper, he doesn't bite, buck, crib or kick and he loves to be groomed. Kit is easy to catch in the pasture, and picks up his hooves and bathes well. Kit has reared a few times when he is upset or confused, so he will need a patient handler. His foster home is working with him to improve this behavior.
