About Aero

Aero came to BEHS in 2011 as part of a group of horses who had been removed from their negligent owners. He blossomed into a gorgeous horse and he caught the eye of an adopter. Unfortunately her horses hated Aero and would not let him share a pasture, so she had to return him. Aero competed in and placed 1st in the foster horse under saddle division of the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. He was adopted at the 2015 Bluebonnet Horse Expo by someone who saw him competing in the Challenge.

Evaluation and Training

Aero leads, longes, and stands for the farrier and grooming. He’s a smart guy who learns quickly and will be a joy to train. Aero spent July – October 2014 with trainer Holly Hammons preparing to compete competing under saddle in the Professional division at the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She rode him on trails and over man-made obstacles before competing in the Training Challenge. He then spent June-October 2015 with youth rider Lauren Winn to prepare for the 2015 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. She says he is still learning to respect personal space on the ground, but he is doing well under saddle. She says he's best for her when ridden English with soft hands, and he responds well to seat and weight cues. She's ridden him on trails (and says he's awesome), in an arena, and at various events. He's a young horse with plenty of energy, but he also has a lot of try and is a sweet guy. He would probably do best with a confident rider or with a rider who will be working with a trainer. As he matures, he should only get better and better! Aero will be competing under saddle in the Youth Under Saddle division of the Bluebonnet Horse Expo on October 17, 2015 and will be available for adoption then. His youth rider has been trail riding him and has started him on the barrel pattern in preparation for the Training Challenge.
