About Chiquita

Chiquita and 11 other horses were part of a cruelty seizure in NE Texas. Chiquita and her herdmates were awarded to BEHS by the courts. Blessings, another BLM mustang in this group, is her dam. She competed in the Foster Horse in Hand division of the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge and her trainer for the Challenge fell in love with her and adopted her that day!

Evaluation and Training

Chiquita was initially very shy and leery of people. Having a baby’s natural curiosity , however, she came around nicely and has blossomed into a beautiful filly. She can be caught and haltered easily and loves being groomed. She leads, ties, trailers, and gives all four feet. She's spent July - October 2012 with a foster home working towards competition at the Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge. As part of her training, she's learned to navigate trail obstacles. She's a great age to start under saddle soon, and she's going to make someone a wonderful open show or trail riding horse. Chiquita is competing in the 2012 Bluebonnet Rescue Horse Training Challenge on October 20, 2012 at the Bluebonnet Horse Expo in Austin, Texas. She will not be available for adoption until the day of the Expo.
