About Lady Bel

Lady Bel was placed with BEHS after her owner was reported for neglect. She gained weight and recovered, and she turned out to be a nice riding horse. She was adopted in 2012 by a person who works in an equine-assisted therapy program. Lady Bel will be helping kids who need her! She did great work while with the therapy program, but they closed their doors in 2015 and Lady Bel came back to BEHS. Lady Bel was diagnosed with Cushings when she returned to Bluebonnet but did well with treatment and was lightly rridable. She was much loved by her foster home - and by everyone who met her. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge in June 2017 after complications from Cuhsings and old age.

Evaluation and Training

Lady Bel is a sweet old mare who was probably well-trained at one time. She's great to handle on the ground, and she would be a wonderful pet. She would also enjoy being a companion to a lonely horse. With front shoes, she can be ridden occasionally or used as a lead line horse. Her foster home says she's very easy to saddle, bridle, and mount. Lady Bel's steering is very rusty but she's very quiet and easy going.
