About Hermes

Hermes was part of a large neglect case. He was removed in a joint effort between BEHS and three other agencies. He was placed with BEHS by the courts. He was adopted in 2009 but returned when his adopter had to cut back, and he was adopted again in 2012 and returned when he was too much for his adopters.

Evaluation and Training

Hermes is a big, beautiful Arabian gelding. He is easy to catch in the field, leads well, stands tied and is good for the farrier/hoof trimmer. He stands well to be saddled and bridled. He longes well and loads well into a trailer. His previous adopter trail rode him, and he's been ridden in his foster home in an arena, round pen, and field. He sometimes tests new riders by wanting to stop working after about 30 minutes of riding. He spent time with a trainer in July 2013 who worked him through this. At first, he would kick out if pushed to continue but after a few rides he stopped balking and worked beautifully for her.
