Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society Joins The Right Horse Initiative to Help Horses Find The Right Home
(College Station, TX; February 28, 2017) Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society is a nonprofit equine welfare organization that helps formerly abused, neglected, stray, and abandoned horses and other equines throughout Texas. When horses arrive, they are rehabilitated and receive veterinary and farrier care. Once they are healthy, Bluebonnet assesses their training level and then searches for new homes.
Each year, hundreds of thousands of horses are transitioned from career or ownership. A growing number of these horses end up at risk of inhumane treatment. Led by the WaterShed Animal Fund, The Right Horse Initiative has been developed in order to unify horse industry professionals, equine welfare advocates, and the broader horse loving public to improve the lives of horses in transition.
To further their goal of finding the right home for each horse in transition Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society has partnered with The Right Horse Initiative which promotes horse adoption as one of the preferred methods of finding your next horse. This unique partnership commits the time, talent, and resources to promote horse adoption through education, training, and public awareness on a national level.
Bluebonnet’s Executive Director. Dr. Jennifer Williams says the organization is excited to join this new partnership. “Bluebonnet, along with other adoption agencies, have so many amazing horses, but many horse lovers overlook horses at horse rescues when they’re searching for a new horse. We’re proud to work with The Right Horse Initiative to promote adoption and show the word that horses in transition, formerly called ‘rescue horses’, can be the perfect match for many horse lovers.”
“The Right Horse is proud to partner with Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society on collaborative efforts to assist horses in transition. Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society exemplifies the type of proactive, innovative and adoption forward organization that fits perfectly with The Right Horse philosophy.” Christy Counts, President, The Right Horse Initiative
